This course meets or exceeds the Scouts of America requirements. Our wilderness First Aid Training is through ASHI. This class is a full 16-20 hours. We offer this training with hands-on skill training, real-life scenarios as well as lectures, and discussions. We will cover risk management, scene safety, assessing a patient, as well as making the best choice for evacuation. This course will also go over many injuries and medical conditions including but not limited to wounds, infection, dislocations, breaks, diabetes, heat/cold-related illness, and bites/stings.
Our instructors spend a great deal of time making the training fun but realistic. If you have difficulty with blood, the outdoors, or animals/insects this course is not for you. We spend a great deal of time outside and expect our students to be prepared for the weather. We operate in Maine, which means the weather can change quickly; please be prepared for such occurrences.
This program is a full 16-20-hour course.
